Locating HVAC Zone Controller

When using the three part HVAC system (controller, seeTemp wall control, temp sensor), where is the controller normally installed? Easiest would be at the air handler, especially since there's a required connection to a temp sensor in the return air duct. My concern is the temperature in the attic where the units are to be installed. This is Southwest Florida, and it gets pretty darn hot around here in the summer. The specs give an operating range up to 160F. Anyone had a problem doing an attic install in an area with a similar heat range?
