maestro multi location dimmers

I have the dimmer model MACL-153MLRHW.I have a 4 way switch can I use this dimmer with one companion and one regular on off 4 way switch or do I need two companions?I hooked it up using only one companion but the 4 way switch has to be in the on position for the other two dimmers to work.
