Folks, client is asking to connect a small 3A towel dryer to a Caseta switch, so that it can be entered into a schedule. Makes sense from a customer experience standpoint, however my sense is that Caseta switches are only for lighting loads and fans. Client also wants to know whether the switch can also be connected to a floor heater for the bathroom (8A in this case). Any insights would be appreciated.

You are correct. Our Caseta switches are only rated for lights and fan loads. I wouldn't ever recommend trying to use it for a towel dryer, floor heater, or anything that isn't a light or a fan. We can't guarantee how it would work with other loads, or even how long it would last with those loads.
Brian W.- What is the official word on running a PD6ANS controlling a contactor to control these loads? We've used RRD8ANS many times in RR2 like this with no troubles.
The official word is the PD-6ANS is only UL rated for the load types listed on page 2 of the spec sheet: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocum...369831_ENG.pdf . Lights and fan motors only. It "may" be able to switch other loads, but we don't test it for anything other than lights and fans.Quote:
