Maestro 3way

Wired up a basement for a friend of mine. We have 2 3way locations. One for the stairwell and one for basement back door entrance. The stairwell works fine. But the 3 way connected to the maestro does not. Do I need a specific 3way toggle switch to work with the maestro dimmer. It doesn’t work as a 3way. I’ve checked the wiring and voltage. All is normal. Anyone?

I believe the MACL-153M dimmer will work with a single, mechanical, 3-way switch. All other models require a companion dimmer (MA-R) for the other locations.
